Swarovski NL Pure Binocular Review – We review the latest innovation from Swarovski Optik in the form of the phenomenal new NL Pure Binocular.
Anyone that has hunted with me or watched one of our films will know, that I am rarely seen without a pair of Swarovski Binoculars slung around my neck. Binoculars for deer stalkers, hunters and especially bird watchers are the most important piece of equipment to get right.
The time that I spend glassing the woods and fields, dwarfs my use of any other kit, including my rifle and rifle scope, which is only utilised briefly, once I have acquired a shootable animal with the bino’s.
For this reason, when Swarovski Optik announce that they have introduced a new pair of binoculars, I sit up and listen.
So what are the headlines? Well in the new NL Pure, users of either the 8x42, 10x42 or 12x42 are treated to the widest field of view on the market, with an unrivalled 159 metre field of view at 1000 metres (8x42) and barely perceptible edges. This is approximately a 20% wider field of view than anything else out there and takes your viewing experience to the next level!

Why is this such an important advancement? Well put simply, whilst scanning the woodlands and fields you are better equipped to spy otherwise unseen animals on the peripheries, so glassing a hill side can prove quicker and more productive, with fewer sweeps required than with other binoculars.
Once you’ve spotted your bird or beast you also need to be aware of what is happening on the side-lines and this is something that is now easier to do. Indeed as a hunter it is crucial that you are aware of your surroundings and can recognise not only potential hazards, but also other animals on the peripheries that might require attention, or of which you need to be aware during your approach.
Another feature, which to my mind is a huge step forward is the ergonomically designed grip, which is a significant improvement on other models such as the EL and SLC. The new NL Pure Binocular is easier and more comfortable to hold, and even in the 12x power, still feels slim and light. Put simply, this means that they are the best optics packaged up in the smallest possible size. This advancement is very welcome, not just because I spend so much time using my binoculars, but also because long have I wanted a binocular that I could scan with in one hand.
We deer stalkers carry a lot of kit, so to be able to raise a binocular quickly in one hand for a quick assessment of the ground ahead, is fabulous and the ease with which one can do so, is added still further, with the ability to add a ‘forehead Rest’, something which acts as a stabiliser and is another nice touch that makes for steadier glassing.
Added to these features, a new focusing system, which makes it even smoother and simpler to roll the focus wheel and it remains clear that Swarovski Optik, with their crystal clear lenses, colour and unrivalled light gathering, are set to continue to dominate their field with fresh new innovative designs and ground breaking technology. I know I am gushing a bit here, but one really does have to applaud Swarovski for not resting on their laurels.
Last month at County Deer Stalking we carried a record breaking nine Proficient Deer Stalker Certificate Level 1 Courses (PDS1), no doubt testament to people’s desire to get back out into the countryside post-pandemic. To each one of those candidates, I expressed the importance of getting a good pair of binoculars from the outset. Other equipment can wait, however, without quality bino’s many opportunities can remain unseen. Again and again, candidates choose Swarovski Optik as their go to binocular.
