Deer Stalking Certificate - Proficient Deer Stalking Certificate (PDS1). Nationally recognised and accredited by LANTRA and UKRS. Perfect for the beginner and an ideal way to make a start in the exciting world of Deer Stalking.
The qualification is gained either online through the 'Hunting Academy' an e-learning platform huntingacademy or during a one-day intensive course in the field. Both are suitable for beginners and non-Firearm Certificate holders, who wish to develop an understanding of the elements involved in becoming a proficient trained deer stalker. The course is also ideal for those that need to demonstrate ‘competence’ to the police when applying for a Firearms Certificate (FAC) or variation.
Both online and infield variants of the course are delivered by Peter S Jones a well recognised face in the industry, former police officer, DMQ Approved Witness & Approved Verifier (AV) in Deer Management Qualifications.
Infield courses run every week Monday - Saturday 10 - 4pm throughout the year and include our extensive training manual, rifle & ammunition, lunch and refreshments. - £425 + vat.

Provides expert one to one tuition and is aimed at getting beginners and those relatively new to deer stalking up to speed with the fundamental skills and knowledge required to become a recreational deer stalker. Training on this intensive one-day course includes:
Practical Training
Rifle safety briefing and over 2 hours of firearms training on our full-size deer targets
Learn about good marksmanship: Rifle and optics setup, taking the shot | breathing and trigger control, shot placement and the reaction of the deer to the shot
Simulated stalking: With assistance, conduct a stalk, demonstrating visual awareness, avoiding noise, discerning wind direction and identifying safe backstops.
After the shot - simulated approach, locating deer & finding / following blood trails
Knowledge – Learn About:
UK Law - legislation affecting wild deer and firearms licensing
Rifle calibres - deer legal calibres and rifle selection
Deer identification - Recognition of the 6 species of wild deer found in the UK
Deer - Behaviour, habitat and signs and the requirements of deer control
Gralloch methodology and carcass inspection
